VALET SERVICE HAS BEGIN
Reminders for Morning Valet - THIS IS A VOLUNTEER
SERVICE run with support from parent, students and other
volunteers.
Morning Valet drop off service is in effect from 8:20AM to 8:50AM.
During this time, the white curb zone in front of the school is
designated for quick loading and unloading only.
Pull up to the front of the line.
Quick exit from the car is necessary for traffic flow and
consideration of others.
No backpacks in the trunk – if so then please find a valid parking
space to park and drop off child. Valet attendants are not allowed
to leave the curb.
If your child is on the driver’s side, please find a valid parking
space to park and drop off your child. Children should be exiting
the car on the passenger side only.
Do not block or obstruct the crosswalk and/or handicapped spaces.
For the safety of the children and valet attendants, please pull
close to the curb. Valet attendants are not allowed to leave the
curb.
Please be considerate of others, no cutting into the drop off line.
Please use the crosswalk in front of the school, do not cross the
parking lot by Beryl gate.
There is no double parking or valet service outside the curb area.
Towers parking lot is one way from
north to south during school hours.

Minimum Day (Early Dismissal):
Kindergarten students will have regular dismissal at
1:50 p.m.
First through third grade students will be dismissed at 2:03 p.m.
Fourth and fifth grade students will be dismissed at 2:12 p.m.

Important Note about Absences |
|
For the 2007-08
school year, the Torrance Unified School
District (TUSD) lost almost
$5,000,000.00 in guaranteed funds from
the State of California. During the
2006-07 school year, the District lost
over $4,300,000.00.
The State of
California provides TUSD with $33.14 for
each day every student is in school.
This money helps run the day-to-day
operation of the schools. If you child
is absent from school for any
reason (unless there is a prearranged
contract with the school), the District
is not paid by the State of
California.
Per the California
Department of Education Code, absences
can only be counted as excused student
absences for illness or a medical
appointment, quarantine, or to attend a
funeral of a student’s immediate family
member. Even if the absence is excused,
the TUSD will not receive State monies.
Effective
immediately, if your child is absent for
vacation, etc., the absence will be
recorded as unexcused.
The TUSD considers
more than 10 days of absences and/or
tardies in a school year to be excessive
(unless there is a doctor’s note
verifying an illness). If a student
exceeds the above-mentioned absences
and/or tardies, interventions will
occur. As you know, our
school district is in a severe budget
crisis. We appreciate your assistance
in having your child/children in school
every day that they are not ill. Thank
you for your help as we continue our
goal of providing the best education for
your children.

All persons entering Towers Elementary are reminded to sign in at the school office and pin a "Visitors" badge on their shirt before entering the campus. Those not wearing a "Visitors" badge may be stopped and questioned. The security of our students and staff is one of our top priorities and we appreciate you cooperating with this request.
